More good news from carriers, this time its Verizon’s turn.
Verizon today (January 8th 2013) announced that they activated nearly 10 million smartphones (9.8 million to be precise) in quarter 4.
This number of activations for the company gave them the their best quarter ever. The iPhone 5 being released more than likely helped.
It has to be noted however that activations is not the same as devices sold and more info will come on January 22nd when Verizon is scheduled to report their quarter 4 earnings.

Earlier, we reported that Verizon had issued a fix to the bug that basically forced Verizon iPhone 5s to use data, even when connected to a WiFi network. Unfortunately, for the users reporting this, their battery was draining significantly faster than most users.
They also noticed that their Verizon data plan was draining much faster than their friends’ data plans. Now, with LTE, this is to be expected; A Ferrari is going to drain the tank faster than my Honda. But, they noticed that LTE was being used, even if they hadn’t left their house.
Verizon, a few days later, noted that they had a problem. They issued a carrier update and then the problem had been fixed. Being a better company than AT&T, they didn’t charge users for the data they used in that period of time. Companies like that are refreshing; take a hint, AT&T. Nobody likes you. Read on for more.

When the iPhone 5 got released, since it got released with a new operating system, it was expected to be packing some bugs, as well as some glorious features. After a few days, the bugs came to light and we expect that Apple started working to fix them. In the meantime, however, the carriers have been working on fixing the carrier related issues that the phone may have.
Though we expect that there are more bugs that haven’t come to light yet, one of the main ones is a somewhat rare occurrence on a Verizon iPhone 5s. See, carriers have the ability to push modem updates to the phone, fixing almost any carrier related problem without the user having to go through a somewhat lengthy upgrade process. So, as soon as the errors start appearing, the carrier can work on pushing an update in no time at all. Read on for more.

With the previous CDMA iPhone, once you had them on a CDMA network, you couldn’t switch them to a GSM network, even though they had a SIM slot. Some carriers would unlock the phone after your contract expired, but then, they wouldn’t let you use the phone, unlocked, inside the country where the CDMA carrier operates. In fact, they would only let you use international carriers. Today, however, we get some pretty excellent news about the new, Verizon iPhone 5. Read on for the details.

If you bummed you weren’t eligible for an upgrade when the iPhone 5 came out you should hear how this writer was PAID by AT&T to switch carriers.

As many of you know, the new iPhone is rumored to have LTE support for very rapid speeds on your cellular network. We don’t have solid proof that Apple will be including LTE, but the rumors in favor of it are very strong. Android phones have had LTE for quite some time now, and, though I dislike Android, the presence of LTE has made the phones very tempting. LTE speeds will blow you away. I just wish I could have them on my 4S, not this faux G that AT&T sells us. Read on for LTE in the iPhone will most benefit Verizon.
