13 Inch rMBP Pricing, Estimated

For about a week now, we’ve been reporting that Apple would be releasing a smaller version of their new rMBP. Some people, such as myself, dislike the bulkiness of the larger models and have been waiting for a small version. The smaller, 13″ inch model should be packing very similar hardware, except that it will have a smaller screen and will likely be somewhat thicker.

The more surface area a device has, the more room to spread out the internals – this is why the iPhone 5 can be thinner than the previous iPhone 4S or 4.

Apple Event Predictions

We just reported that Apple had announced the event for next week and we explained what they would likely be announcing, but we failed to go into detail on the topic. We have significant proof that  points to Apple releasing a large number of new devices in the next week or two. Until recently, most of the information has been pure speculation. Read on for the details and evidence that we do have.

Apple Announces iPad Mini Event – New Products

For a while, we’ve assumed that Apple would be releasing or announcing a new, smaller iPad sometime during this month. Last week, we got word that Apple would be releasing a smaller Retina Macbook Pro, as well. At one of the last events, they announced the 15 inch Retina MBP, but to go along with the mini iPad, they’ll be releasing a mini iPad.

As it turns out, Apple has sent out the invites to select members of the press. This invite is, well, rather boring, compared to the last one. There’s not much that one can infer from this one.

The location, however, may yield a little bit more information – the event will be held at San Jose’s California Theatre. Which, if you didn’t realize, is different from Apple’s usual location. The new location, being a theatre, could point towards some multimedia-reated announcements. I’m not sure when Apple usually announces the new iPods and iTunes, but this years schedule was slightly twisted.

My best guess is that Apple will be releasing a new mini iPad, a 13 inch rMBP. They’ll, as several Twitter users have guessed, likely improve the iMac and Mac Mini line, as it’s been a significant amount time since the last refresh in that department.

OSX Daily Tweeted a picture of the location:

13 Inch, Retina Macbook Pro To Be Released

A few months ago, Apple released a new addition to their Macbook Pro line that packed some pretty awesome hardware, as well as an incredibly sharp retina display. Ever since, people have been speculating that Apple would be retina-fying the entire line. As Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac reports, Apple will be releasing a 13″ rMBP very soon. Read on for the details.

iWork.com beta to end on July 31st, 2012.

Fans and users of the iWork beta have received an e-Mail reminding them that the long lasting service will be shout down completely on July 31 of this year. Apple recommends that you sign into iWork beta and download all of the documents and projects you have saved/stored there, and transport them to your computer before that date.

Apple is asking long time, iWork beta users to move over to iCloud as it can already do half of the functionality that the iWork beta provides and much more. As of now, the some of the functionality that iWork had utilized is not available on iCloud yet. Things such as public sharing, which is basically iWork, and syncing from Mac to iCloud won’t be available until the launch of OS X Mountain Lion.

iWork.com launched in January of 2009, is a free service that allowed users to share iWork ’09 documents online between your OS X / iOS devices using iCloud directly from within Pages, Keynote and Numbers.

With a new way to share iWork documents between your devices using iCloud, the iWork.com public beta service will no longer be available. As of July 31, 2012, you will no longer be able to access your documents on the iWork.com site or view them on the web.

If you are not willing to move to iCloud then alternatives are available to use for those who want the functionality that iWork provides. The popular Google Drive is the first on the list. as it’s easy to use and its on the go with Google’s application for iOS and Android platforms. DropBox is also a fantastic choice for file sharing as well, and of course it’s available on mobile devices via their iPhone and Android app.

Are you planning on moving to iCloud, or are you now going to use an alternative service? Let us know your thoughts below, or tell us via our Facebook page.
